Bird by Bird is now mainly dedicated to writings on mental health [and often the intersection between parenting and mental health issues] by Sara Barcus.
Sara Barcus is a fine artist and illustrator working in San Antonio, TX with her two children and working through the daily struggles of depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia that come with PTSD.
She hopes to connect with her readers in a meaningful way and hopefully help validate the experiences of other mothers who struggle with the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of raising children while struggling with mental illness.
*A Note: Many posts include topics that may be triggering from those suffering from mental health issues or recovering from trauma. Also, many posts include sentiments, thoughts, or true words from other periods in the author's life.
I often kept records of thoughts and mental health over the past 10 years and never published it because I wasn't in a place to. I am in a more stable place now, but I do still suffer occasional depressive episodes and daily anxiety and agoraphobia at fluctuating levels.
